LOS ANGELES Camiseta Paulo Dybala Argentina , July 4 (Xinhua) -- Plus-size model, Natalie Hage, denounced a man who had fat shamed her on a flight to Los Angeles on social media last Friday, and her experience of confronting the discrimination aroused huge response.
Hage, 30, living in Texas, is a popular figure on website. She has 1.26 million followers on Instagram, and her story occurring and posted last week received more than 1.5 million clicks until Tuesday.
Hage paid about 70 U.S. dollars for a seat with extra leg room on a flight from Dallas to Los Angeles last Friday. However there are only middle seats available. Later, she saw the man sitting on her left texted something, and turn the phone away from her on purpose. She read the text and found it was about her. She said she asked the man sitting on the exit row to change seat, telling him her experience, but he just refused.
After landing, Hage decided to confront the man while videotaping the conversation.
In the video posted on Facebook, she asked: "Can you assume something about me? Are you a medical professional? I would just love to know where your expertise is coming from."
"That's none of your business," the man shouted back.
"My body is also none of your business, so you have no idea what I can or can't do with it," she answered.
The man named Eric first denied the comment, but then apologized later when Hage quoted his words to challenge him. He slammed Hage again by questioning she should not sit on the exit row because she could not help others when an emergency happened. Hage explained that she works out five times a week and she is a model. The man apologized again and offered to buy her dinner.
The clips posted on Facebook was shared about 4,000 times, and most viewers support her while some people criticize her for prying other people's privacy.
"Good on you for sharing your story! To those shaming you still...they have no place to be here!" a facebook user Michelle Lavoie wrote. An account of Facebook with name Robert Ettel said: "Good on you for calling him out Natalie."
But Zach Arms, another facebook user, lashed out under Ettel's comments: "Right? No one has a right to privacy anymore. Every one should have the ability to talk to their friends without someone watching over their shoulders."
Hage stated that she was always open to exchange the opinions, and she just wanted to appeal people to "have more kindness to the people you don't know about."

Deng aimed to complete his predecessors' unfinished mission to normalize relations with the US
Thanks to Deng's wisdom and persistence, the enforcement of reform and opening-up policy was unaffected by the 1989 Tiananmen Square incident and ensuing negative international opinion
The calm and confident way in which how Deng dealt with Sino-US relations can be instructive for today's Chinese leaders at a time when Trump's presidency is causing uncertainty in bilateral ties

"When Deng Xiaoping visited the US [in 1979], I was a university student. I read newspaper reports [about the trip] almost word by word, including every single piece of news in the People's Daily," recalled Qian Jiang, journalist and author of Deng Xiaoping and The Establishment of Sino-US Diplomatic Relations, in his blog.
China and the US established diplomatic ties on January 1, 1979, when Deng was serving as China's vice premier and was de facto paramount leader of the Communist Party of China. He then paid an official visit to the US at the invitation of US President Jimmy Carter in late January. As the first visit by a Chinese leader to the US in history, Deng's trip caused a sensation in the US and around the world.
"Documentaries recorded that Deng's nine-day trip changed the view of the US government and wider society towards China. While the establishment of bilateral ties meant the US legally recognized the People's Republic of China, his visit made it into an emotional recognition. He broke the stereotype that Westerners had about Chinese with his humor and volubility," said Liu Yawei, director of the China Program at The Carter Center.
"Deng's boosting of the establishment of Sino-US ties created a peaceful environment for the two countries. For decades, peace has been the cornerstone of the bilateral diplomacy, though there have been frictions and disagreements at times," Qian told the Global Times.
The total volume of Sino-American trade has exploded in recent decades. According to statistics from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce released in January, Sino-US trade volume today is 211 times greater than it was 38 years ago, going from $2.5 billion in 1979 to $519.6 billion in 2016. China surpassed Canada to become the US's biggest trade partner in 2015, according to statistics issued by the United States Census Bureau.
Without Deng's courage and determination, Sino-US ties wouldn't have been normalized in 1979, as there were still a lot of obstacles and difficulties at that moment which are explained in Ezra Vogel's book Deng Xiaoping and the Transformation of China, said Liu."Despite the great many obstacles and difficulties, Deng decided to establish diplomatic ties with the US because he saw the big pic.
